The service
What does the YM Design Portal actually do? ▾
It's an online CAD design service. You upload an intraoral scan (STL / PLY / DCM) plus a few photos, our certified designers build the restoration in exocad or 3Shape, and you download the production-ready design file. You mill or print it in your office. We don't ship physical restorations.
What restorations do you cover? ▾
Crowns, bridges, veneers, inlays, onlays, implant abutments, surgical guides, night guards, and All-on-X (prep / surgery / final stages). If you're not sure your case fits, message us before submitting and we'll confirm.
What scanners are compatible? ▾
Anything that exports STL / PLY / DCM — iTero, 3Shape Trios, Medit i700/i900, Primescan, Carestream, etc. If your scanner can email or save out an STL, we can use it.
How fast is turnaround? ▾
Most single-unit cases received before 3 PM ET come back within one business day; same-day turnaround is available for many of those when our queue allows. Complex cases (full-arch All-on-X, multi-implant guides) take longer — we'll quote turnaround at submission. We don't promise a fixed SLA — your case page shows the live ETA.
Accounts & access
Why do you need my license number? ▾
To verify you're a licensed dentist before activating the account. Standard practice for any service that handles patient data.
Can my whole practice share one account? ▾
Use the Practice colleagues section on your profile — invite each colleague by email and they get their own login while sharing the same practice-level info. Don't share credentials.
Can I import scans directly from my Medit / 3Shape / iTero account? ▾
We've built the Medit Link OAuth integration on our side and are in the process of activating the partnership. Direct scanner-to-portal import will appear on your profile page once that's signed off. For now, please export STL from your scanner and upload via the wizard.
Pricing & billing
How am I billed? ▾
By default, you pay per case via Stripe at submission. Established practices can be moved to Net-30 by our office team — your case enters the queue immediately and you're billed monthly.
What if a case isn't right? ▾
Open the case page and click Request revision. The case bounces back to your designer with your notes. Revisions driven by clear design errors on our side are no extra charge; revisions driven by changes to the original prescription may carry a fee — we'll quote before starting. Files & privacy
Are my files secure? ▾
Files are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest on AWS (AES-256 server-side encryption). Access is gated by per-user login and role-based authorization. Every download is audit-logged. Only you and the staff assigned to your case can see it.
Do you sign Business Associate Agreements? ▾
Yes, on request. Email info@ymdental.com from the address on your account and we'll send our standard BAA. We don't market the Service as "HIPAA-certified" — no such certification exists for software of this type — but we can put a BAA in place when your practice needs one. More: HIPAA & BAA.
How big can my STL be? ▾
Up to 500 MB per file with resumable upload (handles flaky office wifi). Most clinical scans we see are well under 50 MB.
